Suspect vehicle in 100 block W. 38th St. shooting is described as a dark colored Nissan Altima

A 27-year-old man was shot in the leg around 10 a.m. today in East Chattanooga.

Cedric Cross, 27, told police he was shot in the 4800 block of Wilson Street, near Wilcox Blvd., and then drove to the Bethlehem Center in Alton Park, where a bystander called police. The man has not yet been identified.

Cross initially refused to go to a hospital in an ambulance, but was bandaged on scene by emergency personnel. He was up and walking shortly after being shot. His khaki pants, splattered with blood, had been sliced open by emergency workers.

The car he'd been driving was full of bullet holes.

A woman passing by on a bike called out to him as he walked around.

"Who got shot?"

"He did," a police officer answered.

"He did?" she asked. "Do you know who shot you?"

"I don't know," Cross said.

He later agreed to go to a hospital and was taken by a police officer. The suspect's vehicle is described as a dark Nissan Altima with aftermarket rims, according to police.
