Crews recover body of 17-year-old from Alabama creek waters

ALBERTVILLE, Ala. - Authorities say firefighters and rescue crews have recovered the body of a 17-year-old who apparently drowned in creek waters in the Asbury community outside Albertville.

Albert Childress of the Asbury Volunteer Fire Department said the body was recovered around 10 a.m. Tuesday, one day after the teen is believed to have drowned.

Marshall County Coroner Marlon Killion identified the victim as Emmanuel Villalobos Torres. He was a junior at Albertville High School. Killion said his cause of death was accidental drowning.

The Gadsden Times reports (http://bit.ly/1YxvXge) that Torres had been with two friends, who said they'd last seen the teen face down in the fast-moving water where two creeks come together. Childress said one of the friends said he had tried to help Torres, but couldn't.
