An early morning fire destroyed a home on Mowbray Mountain today.

The fire was reported by a motorist around 2:40 a.m. in the Grant Road and Welch Road area, according to Amy Maxwell, public information officer for Emergency Services.

When the Mowbray Volunteer Fire Department arrived, they reported the house was fully engulfed with structure collapse. The Sequoyah Volunteer Fire Department assisted in the effort. 

According to fire officials, the house came under new ownership recently and was being renovated. 

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
