Man is shot, crashes car into Brainerd Road gas station

One man is in the hospital and another in custody after a shooting early Sunday on Brainerd Road, according to Chattanooga police.

A news release said multiple 911 callers reported hearing shots fired around 3 a.m. in the 3600 block of Brainerd Road. At the Kanku's market there, police saw an empty vehicle that had crashed into the gas pumps.

Meanwhile, David Franklin, 26, who had been shot in the abdomen showed up at a local hospital, according to the news release.

Police established a crime scene in the area around the vehicle and connected Franklin to the scene. They also identified Darius Harris, 20, as a suspect in the attack, but gave no details as to what happened.

Police obtained warrants for Harris on charges of attempted first-degree murder, felony reckless endangerment, felony reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, possession of drugs (heroin or methamphetamine) for resale and possession of drug paraphernalia.
