A woman was struck and killed by a train Sunday afternoon in Athens, Tenn., according to emergency officials.

Athens fire captain Mark Cobble confirmed the incident happened near the intersection of Cook Drive and Howard Street, which is across the street from J.L. Cook Memorial Park.

The fire department could not immediately confirm the woman's identity or the details of what happened, other than to say that the train collided with a vehicle between 3:30 and 4 p.m.
