The Dalton Police Department is looking for two men who allegedly broke into trucks in Union City, Ga., and then a car in Dalton, Ga., before dumping items from both thefts together in Manchester, Tenn.

The suspects first broke into two trucks on Sept. 29 about 1:45 p.m. in Union City stealing firearms and ammunition, according to a release from police. They did not realize one of the trucks was equipped with a surveillance camera which recorded the crime.

Later that day, a car parked at Market Street Shops in Dalton was broken into around 4 p.m. and a briefcase containing a laptop computer was taken. The suspects were seen on cameras driving a dark-colored Jeep Cherokee and white pickup truck.

The following day, victims in both cases were contacted by the Manchester police department because items from both thefts were found in a parking lot there. Some property was recovered, but certain items, such as the laptop, were still missing.

Because items from both crimes were found together, investigators believe the two men in the Union City case are involved in both thefts.

Anyone who can identify the men is asked to contact detective Brian Shirley at 706-278-9085, dial 9 and enter extension 189.
