Throughout the night new fires started on Signal Mountain that have put a subdivision in the line of fire as the brush blazes continued.

At 10 a.m., new fires jumped the fire breaks due to high winds and dry terrain.

Hot embers and dead trees falling down the mountain could be a serious concern for a subdivision on Rocky Ledge Road sitting below the brush fires, according to Hamilton County Emergency Services spokeswoman Amy Maxwell.

With the start of the work week, volunteers have returned to their full-time jobs so the First Responders and the Tennessee Forestry Division will be lacking manpower, which is a serious issue, says Maxwell.

Agencies are heading back to the scene for the third day to attempt to get these large brush fires under control. Winds and severe rocky terrain will be a challenge again today.

Roberts Mill Road was closed shortly before noon.
