Free medical clinic to offer services in McMinn County this weekend

Remote Area Medical, a non-profit, volunteer, mobile medical relief group, will host a free clinic July 8-9 in Athens, Tenn.

Medical services at this year's clinic will include dental cleanings, dental fillings, dental extractions, eye exams, eyeglass prescriptions, eyeglass production, free eyeglasses, women's health exams, assistance device (walkers and canes) education, osteopathic manipulative treatment and general medical exams.

The free clinic will take place at McMinn County High School, 2215 Congress Parkway. The parking lot at the clinic location will open at 12 a.m. on Saturday, July 8. Ticket distribution begins at 3 a.m., and doors open at 6 a.m.

The same process will repeat on Sunday, July 9. Individuals will be called in order by the number on their ticket and served on a first-come, first-serve basis. All services are provided at no cost to patients of any age, and no ID is ever required.

RAM travels around the country to deliver free medical, dental and vision care to underserved and uninsured individuals, children and families. In 2016, RAM medical professionals treated more than 7,000 people in the state of Tennessee.
