Chattanooga firefighters battled smoke and flames when they arrived early Saturday morning at a home on the 2900 block of Third Avenue, a news release states.

Spokesman Bruce Garner said the call came in around 3 a.m. and the first firefighters on the scene saw fire at the rear of the structure.

Everyone in the home had gotten safely out and fire crews quickly extinguished the flames, Garner said.

He said the cause of the fire is under investigation and no damage estimate was immediately available.
