Police investigating Clayton Drive shooting

The Chattanooga Police Department is investigating a shooting early Saturday that sent a 23-year-old woman to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

At 3:29 a.m., police responded to the 1700 block of Clayton Drive after reports of shots fired, according to a news release. Eleven minutes later, they were informed of a person arriving at a local hospital hospital suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police spoke with Derrika Ammons, who said she was shot while inside a residence in the area of 1400 Clayton Drive, the release states.

Members of the Violent Crime Bureau are investigating the shooting.
