Overactive bladder seminar

Erlanger Health System will host an educational seminar about overactive bladder at Erlanger East Hospital in Suite 209 from 5:30-7 p.m. today.

The discussion will include various treatment options, a patient testimonial and question- answer session.

Current patients and members of the community interested in this issue are encouraged to join.

Free bariatric seminars

Dr. Jaime Ponce and CHI Memorial Metabolic and Bariatric Care will host free seminars on bariatric surgical and non-surgical options at 11:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Topics include: Who is a good candidate for the procedure, what to expect during the recovery period, and lifestyle changes needed to foster a successful outcome.

Attendees should arrive at the seminar location - 7405 Shallowford Road, Suite 160, Chattanooga - 30 minutes early, and walk-ins are welcome.

Mobile mammography in Hixson this week

CHI Memorial's mobile health coach will provide mammography screenings at CHI Memorial Community Health Center-Hixson from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. Thursday.

Women between ages 35-40 should have one screening mammogram to look for hidden breast changes. After age 40, a screening mammogram is recommended every year.

Those who fall under these guidelines and haven't received a mammogram in the past 12 months may participate with or without insurance.

Participants should bring their insurance card, photo ID and know their doctor's first and last name. Financial assistance may be available for those without insurance.

New hire targets health

The Chattanooga Area Food Bank recently hired Sophie Moore as Development Officer for Healthcare Partnerships.

Moore will collaborate with hospitals, clinics, physicians, community leaders and others to identify, build and connect those affected by food insecurity with innovative food distribution sites.

Moore recently moved to Chattanooga from Nashville, where she worked for more than a decade to support health care organizations.

The Food Bank is largest hunger relief organization in the area and serves 20 counties in Southeast Tennessee and North Georgia.
