The press conference was held to announce the launch of the San Diego Zoo Kids television channel at the Children's Hospital. According to a press release, San Diego Zoo Kids allows children at the hospital "to connect with wildlife without leaving their rooms." It is "an innovative close-circuit television channel that provides family friendly, animal-oriented programing that is both entertaining and educational." The channel now offers "animal stories from Chattanooga Zoo and Tennessee Aquarium."
