Firefighters battle house fire Tuesday night on South Kelly Street in Chattanooga

Firefighters battled a house fire about 10:10 p.m. Tuesday, according to a Chattanooga Fire Department news release.

Firefighters from E5, L5,S1 E4, L1, S13, Q1, Battalion 1 and Battalion 2 responded to a report of a structure fire in the 400 block of South Kelly Street.

The first arriving units reported heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of a house.

Capt. John Ives of E5 did a quick search of the inside of the house and found that there was no one inside. Fire crews were able to get the fire under control quickly.

Neighbors reported that there was no one living in the house.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
