A new report finds that Tennessee had the 29th highest rate of drunk driving arrests last year. The state's DUI arrest rate in 2018 was 300 per 100,000 drivers.

The good news is that DUI arrests continue to drop in the state. In the 10 years between 2009 and 2018, the yearly DUI arrest rate in Tennessee dropped 39.2 percent.

Interestingly, Alabama is one of the Top 10 states with the lowest DUI arrest rates. Georgia came in ahead of Tennessee at 23 with 347.8 DUI arrests per 100,000 drivers. 

The 10 states with the highest DUI rates: South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming, North Carolina, Mississippi, New Mexico, Maine, Washington, Alaska and Wisconsin.

The 10 states with the lowest DUI rates: Missouri, Arkansas, Connecticut, Alabama, Ohio, Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Illinois, Delaware

The study notes notes that more than half of DUI arrests were in people between the ages of 21 and 39.
