Whitfield County Sheriff's Office: Two charged in group home escape of juvenile who was later found dead

The Whitfield County Sheriff's Office announced today it charged two people with aiding the escape of a juvenile who was later found dead.

According to a release from the department, 19-year-old Chasity Beavers helped a juvenile escape a group home in Columbus, Ga. The juvenile's uncle, James Brandon Shelton, also helped.

The sheriff's office charged both with cruelty to children and making false statements. The department also charged Beavers with interference with custody.

The juvenile was found dead on Jan. 27.
