Drivers in the northern end of Catoosa County may want to double check their route before they leave. The county announced that the crossing over the railroad tracks in the Graysville community will be closed today.

County Clerk Melissa Hannah said this was a decision made by CSX Transportation. Graysville is a small community near the Georgia-Tennessee line, which spills into East Brainerd.

The railroad crossing is specifically at the corner of Front and Graysville roads. The county commission pledged to build a bridge over the railroad crossing for about $12 million - on the condition that voters passed a Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax referendum. About 80 percent of voters rejected the proposal on March 19.
