Firefighters extinguished a fire on board a million-dollar boat Saturday, according to a release from Hamilton County Emergency Services.

The Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department responded to a 911 call from the boat owner reporting a fire at the Chattanooga Yacht Club at 9400 North Hickory Valley Road.

Firefighters responded by boat and found smoke and flames in the engine area of the boat, the release states.

They worked to quickly extinguished the fire before it could reach the 900 gallons of fuel on board.

The owner of the boat was transported to an area hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.

Fire officials reported the boat sustained about $3,000 in damages from the fire. The cause was determined to be electrical issues, according to the news release.
