A Fort Oglethorpe man sought in a deadly crash last month is in custody in the Hamilton County Jail, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

Douglas C. Gass, 23, is a suspect in a crash that happened around 11 p.m. on Oct. 7. Police said Gass fled from Fort Oglethorpe police after crashing his vehicle in the 2600 block of East 38th Street. The passenger in Gass' car, 19-year-old Kobe Burchfield, died at the scene.

He was arrested in Florida after fleeing the Chattanooga area.

In a post on Facebook, the sheriff's office confirmed he is back in Hamilton County.

Gass faces multiple charges, including vehicular homicide, through Chattanooga Police Department and Georgia law enforcement agencies.
