Alabama woman charged in elderly abuse case

A Cedar Bluff, Alabama, woman was charged Monday in connection with the discovery of a woman in her care who needed medical treatment.

Pamela R. Nagler, 58, was arrested on charges of elder abuse and neglect, Cherokee County, Alabama, Sheriff Jeff Shaver said in a news release. Nagler was arrested after the Cherokee County Department of Human Resources and a deputy went to a home near Cedar Bluff to do a welfare check and discovered the woman "in serious need of medical attention," Shaver states in the release. The woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment. There was no word on her condition.

Shaver said in the statement that Nagler is currently on probation for a similar crime. She was additionally charged with violation of probation and remains in custody and no bond was listed on her booking information.
