Alexis Moore, the 17-year-old Senior at Dade County High School who died in a car crash Thursday night, will be named the honorary homecoming queen at Friday night's game.

Alexis' mom, Tiffany Thurman Robertson, said her daughter and her two friends were heading to the homecoming parade when the three were in a head-on collision on Daniels Road.

The incident happened at about 6:20 p.m. in the 700 block of Daniels Road, according to the Dade County Sheriff's Office.

On Friday morning, nearly 100 students at Dade County High School gathered in front of the school to say a prayer for Lexi.

Afterward, Robertson said kids came up to her and gave her hugs.

In a news release, Dade County High School Principal James Fahrney said that after getting input from students, Friday's football game would be played but the color guard would not perform.

Two students involved in the accident are members of the color guard.

Fahreny encouraged people to wear green, Moore's favorite color.

Superintendent Dr. Jan Harris also encouraged people to write notes or posters to display at Dade County High School to support students and staff as they go through such a difficult time.

The cause of the crash and condition of the other people involved were not released.
