Bicyclist hit by car, killed in Chattanooga Sunday night

A 52-year-old man was fatally injured after being hit by a vehicle Sunday night, according to the Chattanooga Police Department.

Redona Cross, 42, was driving westbound on East 3rd Street at Highland Park Avenue Sunday when her car struck the victim, Maurice Steward, as he was stopped in the right lane, a news release states.

Police responded to the call around 11:03 p.m. and Cross told police she did not see Steward stopped in the right lane. Steward was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Cross was not injured in the incident, police state.
