A Chattanooga family safely escaped a house fire Wednesday night and firefighters successfully kept the blaze contained to one area, preventing flames from spreading to the rest of the home.

The fire occurred just before 5 p.m. in East Brainerd's Belleau Woods subdivision in the 8000 block of Pershing Street, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Fire Department.

Neighbors called 911 to report that they could see flames coming from the house. Firefighters found heavy fire in the attic above the garage.

Three adults and one child managed to escape the home safely. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters worked quickly to get the fire extinguished, containing it to the attic.

Officials determined the cause of the fire was accidental.
