One dead after vehicle, motorcycle crash on U.S. Highway 27

One person is dead after a motorcycle and a car collided on 160 U.S. Highway 27 Saturday night, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Police Department.

The driver of a Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling southbound on Highway 27 near Exit 1C when it passed an ambulance dispatched to an emergency.

The motorcycle later cut in front of the ambulance and collided with a vehicle that was in the exit lane yielding to the ambulance, according to police.

The driver of the motorcycle was taken to a local hospital by Hamilton County Emergency Services where he died from his injuries, the release states.

The investigation is ongoing, and Chattanooga police ask anyone with information regarding the incident to call 423-698-2525 or submit a tip through the CPD Mobile App. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
