Walmart employee dies after New Year's Eve shooting outside of Eastgate store

One of the victims of a New Year's Eve shooting outside of Walmart has died, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Police Department.

Walmart employee Alfred Williams, 61, succumbed to injuries he received from the shooting outside the Eastgate Walmart store at 490 Greenway View Drive.

A 23-year-old man was also shot. The suspect managed to leave the scene in a vehicle before police arrived at the scene.

Police are now leading a homicide investigation and they are asking anyone with information to call the Homicide Tip Line at 423-643-5100. Callers can remain anonymous.
