Chattanooga police arrest suspect in homicide on Garrett Drive

A man Chattanooga police arrested Sunday at the scene where another man was found unresponsive on a driveway has been charged with criminal homicide, according to a news release.

Chattanooga Police Department officers responded Sunday afternoon just before 3:45 p.m. to a report of an unresponsive man lying on a driveway in the 5700 block of Garrett Drive, according to a news release.

Police said the man, later identified as Kevin Garrett, 30, was taken to a local hospital by Hamilton County Emergency Services. He later died there.

Investigators determined that the victim's death resulted from a criminal act, the news release states.

The suspect, identified as Shantez Ferguson, 25, is being held in the Hamilton County Jail.

The investigation is ongoing, and Chattanooga police ask anyone with information about it to call the homicide tip line at 423-643-5100 or submit a tip through the CPD mobile app. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
