The U.S. Geological Survey over the weekend reported two small earthquakes east of Ringgold, Georgia, in Catoosa County.

The first quake, a magnitude 2.0 temblor, struck at 3:10 a.m. Saturday, a couple of hundred yards south of Stonebridge Lane, off of Keith Road, according to USGS data. The quake was about 10.5 miles beneath the earth's surface.

The second, smaller quake, a magnitude 1.8, struck at 3:11 a.m. Saturday about a half-mile northeast of Stonebridge Lane, near Headrick Road. The second quake was almost 12 miles deep.

A magnitude 2.0 earthquake or smaller, at most, can only be felt by a few persons at rest, particularly on the upper floors of buildings, according to the USGS. The USGS did not report any damage related to either temblor.
