An 18-year-old male from Jefferson County, Alabama, is the fourth drowning victim at Little River Canyon since April 3, according to a news release.

Officials say the individual's friends got off the river approximately 80 feet before the waterfall, but the individual was caught up in the current and was last seen going over the waterfall. He never resurfaced from the pool below, the release states.

Multiple rescue and recovery teams responded to the incident and divers from Fischer Rescue Squad located and recovered the body at 6:37 p.m. The victim was brought out of the canyon and turned over to the DeKalb County Coroner's Office.

On May 24, a 23-year-old Indiana man drowned only five days after Dustin Bryan Arroyo Garcia, 19, of Cobb County, Georgia, was also caught up in a current.

These drownings follow another that happened on April 3 that claimed the life of a 33-year-old Chilton County, Alabama, resident who vanished while swimming on the Little River and never reappeared.
