Chattanooga police investigating Monday shooting, homicide

Chattanooga police are investigating a homicide that happened on West 38th Street Monday afternoon, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Police Department.

Just before 2 p.m., officers arrived at 101 West 38th St. to find 31-year-old Robert Dowdy suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police then learned that a second 24-year-old victim received an injury at the scene and arrived at a local hospital by private vehicle.

Emergency services transported Dowdy to a local hospital where he later died from his injury, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing, and Chattanooga police ask anyone with information about it to call the homicide tip line at 423-643-5100 or submit a tip through the CPD mobile app. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
