Roads closed for Chattanooga Marathon this weekend

Chattanooga Marathon runners and spectators will be greeted with mostly sunny skies and a high of 66 degrees this weekend after weeks of severe weather and rain.

The Erlanger Chattanooga Marathon is expected to attract 5,000 people to the city on Saturday and Sunday with expected road closures.

The Classic 150 5K run will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday and a one-mile fun run for children will follow at 11 a.m. The marathon and half-marathon will start at 7:30 a.m. Sunday. Races on both days will start and finish at Finley Stadium.

Reggie White Boulevard from 20th Street to Main Street will be closed all weekend and until 5 p.m. Sunday. All other closed roads will reopen by 3 p.m. Sunday.

Intersections heavily impacted by marathon events include Market and Main streets, Market and 20th streets, Riverfront Parkway and Lindsay Street, East M.L. King Boulevard and Bailey and North Holtzclaw avenues.

Classic 150 5K Race:— Main Street from Reggie White Boulevard to Central Avenue— W. 13th Street from Cowart and Carter streets— Cowart Street from Main Street to W. 13th Street— Northbound Carter Street from Main Street to W. 13th StreetKid’s Fun Run:— Chestnut Street from 20th to W. 13th streets— W. 13th Street from Chestnut to Carter streets— Northbound Carter Street from Main to W. 13th streets**Runners will cross Broad and Market streets. Chattanooga police will be directing traffic as needed when runners are present.

SUNDAY ROAD CLOSURES

7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.: — Carter Street from West Main to W. 11th streets will be closed formass start. CPD to open southbound Carter Street as lastrunner passes.— W. 11th Street at Carter Street will be closed.— Chestnut Street at W. 11th Street and between W. 13th and WestMain streets will be closed; W. 13th from Chestnut toCarter streets will be closed.— Eastbound traffic on East M.L. King Boulevard will be shifted to thecenter lane.— Southbound Market Street from W. 11th to W. 20th streets willbe closed for mass start. CPD to open closures as lastrunner passes.— Westbound traffic on W. 20th St from Broad to Marketstreets. CPD to reopen after the last runner passes.— Riverfront Parkway from Lindsay Street to Molly Lane will beclosed.— The Barton Avenue ramp from Frazier Avenue will be closed.— Right eastbound lane of Main Street between Riverfront Parkwayand Reggie White Boulevard will be closed.— Right westbound lane/parking of Main Street from HoltzclawAvenue to Chestnut Street will be closed.**Runners will be on the roads downtown — east to west — from Riverfront Parkway to South Holtzclaw Avenue and north to south from W. 20th Street to Frazier Avenue.
