Soddy-Daisy to close restaurants, bars, fitness centers amid coronavirus outbreak

Soddy-Daisy will be closing all restaurants and bars for on-site consumption within city limits starting Saturday, according to a news release from the city's communications department.

The move is part of a joint civil emergency proclamation and executive order in response to the coronavirus outbreak. Gyms, fitness centers, and the Soddy-Daisy Senior Center and Community Center have also been temporarily closed.

Restaurants and bars will still be able to offer pick-up, delivery or drive through services, the release states.

Two days prior, Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke signed an executive order mandating that all restaurants and bars in the city end dine-in services to protect against the spread of the virus.

East Ridge followed a day later with a joint emergency proclamation and executive order.
