Feeding schedule roundup for Chattanooga region school systems during COVID-19 crisis

School systems across Southeast Tennessee, Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama are providing meals to students and young children through bus route deliveries and drive-through pickup stations.

Hamilton County: In the metropolitan Chattanooga area, Hamilton County Schools runs buses on the morning elementary school bus routes Monday, Wednesday and Friday, but meals are open and available to all children under 18. Families can go online to find their stop or call the transportation hotline at 423-498-5555.

Time frames for the student meal delivery:

Special Education Routes: 11 a.m.-12 p.m.

Buses 1-111: 11:15 a.m.-noon

Buses 300-499: 12 p.m.-1 p.m.

Bledsoe County: Bledsoe County Schools will be providing meals on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Pikeville Elementary, Rigsby Elementary and Wheeler Elementary.

First Southern Baptist Church will be offering 5-day snack packs for Bledsoe County students. Church members will be at each of the Bledsoe's volunteer fire departments on March 27 and April 3 from 3 - 5 p.m. Volunteers will bring the snack packs to the car. Students do not have to be present to receive a snack pack but recipients must be Bledsoe County residents.

Bradley County: Breakfast and lunch will be delivered on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays with buses running normal school routes beginning at 11 a.m. Students or a family member should be at the closest bus stop about 4.5 hours after their normal morning pickup time. For example, if your pickup is normally 7 a.m., food will be delivered at 11:30 a.m.

Meals can be picked up at Park View Elementary and Food City locations on McGrady Drive and Ocoee Crossing on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:45-9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

If your family is in need of specific assistance for delivery, please contact your respective school.

Cleveland City: Cleveland City school buses will be delivering food to bus stops, offering breakfast and lunch to any child under 18. Officials warn that deliveries could take longer than expected and ask families to be patient. Breakfast and lunch will be provided to any children under the age of 18 if they are at a bus stop. Meigs County: Beginning on March 30, Meigs County will start using school buses to deliver food on the regular bus routes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Students will receive two days of breakfast and lunch each day.

Buses will leave Meigs South, Meigs North and Meigs Middle at 10 a.m., with delivery happening 10 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Polk County: Starting March 30, Polk County Schools will begin providing meals to any children under 18. School officials are trying to contact students' parents to find out whether they need meals and are asking any parents who have not been contacted to call the system's central office at 423-299-0471.

Buses will run regular routes to deliver meals on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays to those who contact their child's teacher or school principal. Students will be given two breakfasts and lunches on Monday and Wednesday, and one of each on Friday. Students may pick up breakfast and lunch daily between 11 a.m.-12 p.m. at Copper Basin Elementary, Benton Elementary and South Polk Elementary.

Rhea County: Breakfast and lunch are being served each Monday and Thursday, 9 a.m.-12 p.m., available to children 18 and under at drive-through pick up stations at any elementary school in the county. Children must be present and there is no need to leave your car. Participants get three days' worth of meals on Mondays and two days' worth of meals on Thursdays. Daily menus are available through the system website.

Dayton City: Dayton City School will distribute meals Monday-Friday 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in a pick up station in front of the school. A breakfast/lunch meal pack will be provided to each child, whether they are a DCS student or not. Children must be present. Lesson packets and other items can also be picked up during these times on March 27.

Sequatchie County: Children in Sequatchie County's three-school system can pick up pre-packaged meals for each child in the household starting March 26 via a drive-through station set up at Griffith Elementary School. Parents must remain in their vehicles.

NORTHWEST GEORGIA

Catoosa County: Catoosa County Schools will continue providing meals for students after Spring Break. On Monday, April 6, and every Monday the district is out of school, meals will be provided at LFO High School on Battlefield Parkway from 8-10 a.m. Meal delivery is also available by emailing smason@catoosa.k12.ga.us or calling 706-965-0266.

Dade County: Dade County Schools will deliver meals to all kids in the county under the age of 18, regardless whether they attend school in the school district or not, on Monday and Wednesday mornings. Kids and families are asked to wait for the buses to pull up to the curb to get the meals.

Chattooga County: Chattooga County schools will deliver meals to all bus routes in the county, using school buses, vans, SUVs or trucks. Please watch for either a school bus or another vehicle, which will be clearly marked with an official Chattooga County Schools emblem and be at the usual bus stop 10:30-11:30 a.m.

Pick-up meals also will be available at each county school from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. daily.

Breakfast and lunch will be given to anyone 18 or younger at each bus stop. Children who do not normally ride a bus but would like to receive delivered meals, simply meet at the bus stop closest to your home. School system officials will add stops as much as possible within the schedule and route.

Do not gather and wait in groups of more than 10 people and maintain a 6-foot space between you and others. Bus stops that do not follow these guidelines may be dropped from the delivery route.

Trion City: Trion City Schools through Friday are providing meals via drive-through pick-up stations operating 10 a.m.-noon in drop-off/pick-up lanes at the front entrance at all city schools. Children can get breakfast and lunch for the week on pick-up days; Mondays children get two days' worth of meals and on Wednesdays they get meals for the rest of the week.

Please stay in your vehicle and understand the number of meals received will be based on the number of children in the vehicle. Meals cannot be consumed on site. There was no information immediately available on plans for the week of March 30.

Murray County: Starting March 27 and continuing after March 30, two days' worth of breakfast and lunch meals will be available to children on Fridays, three days of breakfast and lunch meals can be picked up on Tuesdays 11:30 a.m.-12 p.m. at:

Walker County: StartingTuesday, April 7, Walker County Schools will change from delivering meals through bus routes to distributing food for students to multiple sites across the county. For the week of April 6-10, food will be distributed on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
