The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and local authorities have not yet identified the victim of a fatal fire Tuesday at a local campground, but foul play is not suspected.

The fire was reported a little after 5 p.m. CDT Tuesday at Tennessee Hills Campground off U.S. Highway 41 between Manchester and Beachgrove in Coffee County, according to Manchester Fire and Rescue Chief George Chambers.

"It was a small fire in a motorhome, and EMS and North Coffee [Volunteer Fire Department] responded and EMS was doing CPR on him but he succumbed to his injuries," Chambers said.

A two-hour preliminary death investigation was started immediately and the TBI arson investigators were notified of the fire fatality, he said.

"The TBI investigated the fire yesterday," Chambers said, but so far no findings have been released, he added.

The TBI did not immediately respond to a request for information about the investigation.

Chambers said no signs of foul play were found by the local arson investigator. The state agency is called to investigate fatal fires as a routine part of such probes, he said.

Chambers said he was not sure how long the victim had been living at the campground.
