Scattered storms expected in the Chattanooga area through Friday evening

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected in the Chattanooga through Friday evening with a slight chance of damaging winds.

Heavy rain and lightning will be the biggest impacts of the storm system moving into the area, and there is below a 2% chance of isolated tornadoes.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop again on Saturday and over Memorial Day weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Morristown, Tenn. A few severe storms could occur, with damaging winds and perhaps some marginally severe sized hail being possible.
