A man has died in a Friday crash in the 1000 block of I-75 north, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Police Department.
Investigators determined a Chevy Silverado was heading north on I-75 when it hit a deer crossing the roadway. The driver then moved over to the emergency lane to check for any damage to the vehicle. While re-entering I-75 in the far right lane, the Silverado was hit by a Toyota Corolla.
The Silverado spun to the left toward the concrete median and was hit by several more vehicles before coming to rest in the roadway. The 62-year-old male driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Multiple people were taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.
