Heavy rain, flash flooding in the Chattanooga area Tuesday as Tropical Storm Fred passes through

The heaviest rainfall will be for areas east of I-75. These communities have the greatest risk for flash flooding.

Today is a "Storm Alert Weather Day" as the remnants of Tropical Storm Fred pass through the Chattanooga area.

Flash flood watches are in effect until Wednesday morning for all of the area Georgia counties, Hamilton, Bradley, Polk, McMinn and Monroe counties in Tennessee and Cherokee County in North Carolina.

The heaviest rainfall will be from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and communities east of I-75 have the greatest risk for flash flooding.
