Jackson County, Alabama, man charged in November fatal crash

A Section, Alabama, man is charged with criminally negligent homicide in a fatal crash that happened in November 2018, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

On Nov. 17, 2018, Marty Alan Outlaw, 57, was driving a 2007 Toyota Camry that left the road and struck a tree. His passenger, Tina Marsee Gifford, 45, also of Section, was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene, agency spokesperson trooper Brandon Bailey said in a statement.

The crash happened on Jackson County Road 19 near Jackson County Road 419, about five miles east of Section, according to Bailey. Outlaw was injured and taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital for treatment, the trooper said.

Speed was a contributing factor to the crash, he said.

Outlaw was arrested Sunday on a grand jury indictment and taken to the Jackson County Jail pending trial, Bailey said. No bond has been set, according to jail records.
