Motorcyclist dies after being struck by vehicle near Hixson

A 69-year-old motorcyclist has died after being struck by a vehicle Friday afternoon near Hixson, according to a Chattanooga Police Department news release.

The CPD traffic division responded to the report of a fatal vehicle crash at about 3:35 p.m. in the 5700 block of Lake Resort Drive.

A driver in a Ford F-350 pickup truck traveling north on Lake Resort Drive hit a man on a Yamaha motorcycle as he made a left turn from the entrance of Marina Point Apartments into the path of the truck.

The motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital by Hamilton County EMS where he later died from his injuries.
