Driver safely rescued from overturned truck perched on ridge near South Crest Road

Motorists in the area are advised to seek an alternate route until the truck can be safely removed.

A truck went off South Crest Road Tuesday afternoon, necessitating a delicate rescue of the driver as the truck as perched on the steep embankment, hanging in what the Chattanooga Fire Department called "dangerous, unstable spot."

The 28-foot long box truck flipped over near Shadowlawn Drive on Missionary Ridge. Crews from the Chattanooga Fire Department were able to rescue the driver.

The driver was reportedly hanging upside down inside the cab and crews worked quickly to get to him and get him out.
