Two people killed in separate weekend shootings in Chattanooga

Authorities in Chattanooga are investigating two separate fatal shootings that occurred in the city over the weekend.

According to a news release from the Chattanooga Police Department, officers arrived at the 700 block of North Germantown Road Saturday shortly before 5 p.m. after a report of a person shot in the area. When officers arrived, they found 21-year-old Tawon Billups suffering from a gunshot wound.

Emergency services later pronounced Billups dead at the scene, the release stated.

Early Sunday morning, police responded to a report of a shooting in the 1100 block of Arlington Avenue. Authorities found 25-year-old D'Marquis Bell at the scene suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died, police said.

Chattanooga police are asking anyone with information about the incidents to call 423-643-5100 or to submit a tip through the Chattanooga Police Department's mobile app.
