72-year-old man dies after shooting on Citico Avenue in Chattanooga

A 72-year-old man died and a woman was injured after a shooting Sunday on Citico Avenue in Chattanooga, according to a news release from the Chattanooga Police Department.

Officers responded to a call about a shooting at around 10:31 p.m. on the 2700 block of Citico Avenue, where they found a 72-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Hamilton County first responders transported the victims to a local hospital where the man later died, according to police.

The woman told investigators that she and the other victim were "driving in the area when they began taking gunfire," the news release stated. Authorities have not released the victims' names.
