Severe weather expected for Chattanooga area, southeast Tennessee on Saturday night

The Chattanooga area and other parts of southeast Tennessee are at risk for severe weather on Saturday night, according to the National Weather Service.

Thunderstorms could bring damaging winds, possible tornadoes and flash flooding over the next several hours, until around 1 a.m. Sunday.

A tornado watch is in effect for parts of the Tennessee Valley until 3 a.m. Sunday for the following Tennessee counties: Blount, Bradley, Hamilton, Jefferson, Knox, Loudon, Marion, McMinn, Monroe, Polk and Sevier.

Residents are encouraged to stay aware of the weather, have emergency notifications turned on, charge all their devices and have a plan for seeking safe shelter.
