Man shot twice at housing site

Chattanooga Police were dispatched to 1232 Cypress Street Court on shots fired Sunday morning, according to department spokeswoman Officer Rebecca Royval.

Upon their arrival about 12:40 a.m., police located evidence of shots fired, but no victim, Officer Royval said. A short time later, officers were notified by Erlanger hospital that a man with two gunshot wounds had shown up at the emergency room by personal vehicle, Officer Royval said.

The victim, Robert Gill, 20, first told officers that he had been shot somewhere in Coolidge Park by unknown suspects, but a conflicting story was given by the woman who took the victim to the hospital, Officer Royval said.

The woman told investigators that she picked up Mr. Gill at the corner of Grove Street and Riverfront Parkway. Mr. Gill finally told the major crimes investigator that he indeed was shot inside College Hill Courts housing development by unknown suspects, Officer Royval said.

According to Erlanger medical staff, Mr. Gill's injuries are not life-threatening, Officer Royval said.
