In conjunction with United Way of the Ocoee Region and Southern Heritage Bank (SHB), Lee University recently participated in a community food drive, hosted by SHB, to benefit the Caring Place, a Christian, nonprofit organization with the mission to model the love of Christ by addressing basic spiritual, physical and social needs of Bradley County residents.
"Three of the university's core values include responsible citizenship, ethical action and redemptive service," said Bethany McCoy, director of community relations at Lee. "It was a privilege to see our students, faculty, and staff embrace these values and put them into action through their involvement with the drive."
This year was the university's largest participation in the food drive with more than 1,300 cans collected. A competition among the Greek community to collect the most cans fueled the drive. Delta Zeta Tau came in first, Sigma Nu Sigma in second, and Pi Kappa Pi came in third. Epsilon Lambda Phi, Omega Alpha Phi, TAU Kappa Omega, Theta Delta Kappa, and Upsilon Xi also participated in the drive.
