The Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga recently received a donation from the Hamilton County Education Association to support COVID-19 relief efforts in the county's hardest-hit communities.
"The Hamilton County Education Association is supporting the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga's Community Response and Resilience Fund because it provides the best avenue to support our communities that are disproportionately and negatively affected by the health, economic and social impacts of the coronavirus outbreak," HCEA President Jeanette Omarkhail said. "We feel that the organization's funding priorities match educators' desire to help the communities we serve.
"While we are unable to be in-person with our students, it was important to association members that we identify other ways to support our kids," Omarkhail said.
The HCEA board of directors voted to contribute $1,000 to the fund with the money designated to go to youth and children in Hamilton County.
