"'Illegals' work hard and well" and other letters to the editor

Fleischmann off to a good start

Rep. Chuck Fleischmann, R-Tenn., has made a great start in representing the 3rd District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

He is working hard, efficiently, and is proposing innovative ideas.

He already has been assigned to three powerful committees in the House and recently organized a forum locally for small-business owners to communicate directly with the chairman of the House Small Business Committee.

Thanks, Chuck, for your fine work.

'Illegals' work hard and well

Re: Your editorial, Chattanooga Free Press, March 21:

I would be remiss if not to comment on what I feel is ignorance. This is not to draw out anger, just the facts.

"Illegals" are so happy to be here. They work hard and well. The only trouble they continually battle is they are not allowed to get a proper driver's license.

If they are mistreated, they cannot do anything about it.

They want to better themselves with the one precious life they have.

Some American opportunists are taking advantage of the "illegals."

The fact is, Americans will not work for $7.25 an hour, when they can make more working the system. Why would anyone attempt to work for $7.25 an hour! This would not even make a dent in their luxuries.

The fact is the "illegals" pay into our Social Security system and they will never see a penny of it. If it were not for them, the system would be drained.

To be a little facetious, I think America should attempt to annex Mexico and tear down the border. The only other option is to pull the cork on the welfare system. Until the "entitled" work, they will never be equal.

Take nation back before it's too late

Obama goes on yet another vacation and gives Brazil permission to drill oil off our coast in the Gulf of Mexico. Yet he will barely give permits to American drilling companies to drill off American coasts.

No, his reasoning is we can buy our oil from Brazil.

Am I the only American who is fed up with the socialist mindset of our president? Isn't it time we stand up and say "enough"? Ten years ago, Harry Reid couldn't stop screaming impeach when Bush attacked Iraq. But let Obama attack Libya and Reid is strangely silent. Hmmmm. Why? Food for thought, people.

And now, we run like cowards with our tails between our legs? What, Mr. Obama? Did you make a mistake? Are you trying to make us look bad? What is the matter with this picture?! We have never had our military under another country's control!

It's time that we take our country back, or before long there won't be an America to try to defend.
