I am the first to gripe about buying votes (as in the last presidential election), but after seeing the massive spending by Mike Bloomberg I am reminded of the constant bombardment by Trump forces and my disgust at the amount of money he was pouring into his desperate attempt to buy America's vote - even though he was totally unqualified.

The host of a tacky game show with a big bank account with many foreign investments, basically an off-color personality, bought the election in 2016.

Now we are presented with Mike Bloomberg, who also has an overwhelming request, not to MAGA but to improve our health care, clean up our country and get some gun control, not just give the NRA, big banks, drug companies and Apple stock investors a big tax break.

He is trying to buy votes, but the current president did the same thing. At least Bloomberg has some experience and some good-sounding plans. If someone is going to buy my vote, I want them to spend the way I want!

Revealing Bible oil story a public service

Thank you for the "flowing oil Bible" piece.

You investigated, and they shut it down. They are out of the huckster business, at least until they find another oil supply.

I am a Bible-believing, miracles-happen Christian who hates to see superstition passed off as religion. Thank God for truth-seekers and for your getting to the bottom of this sham.

Alexander, GOP a 'disgrace' to USA

Sen. Lamar Alexander, I have been a Tennessee resident all my life. I don't and have not agreed with a lot of policies you have supported over the years, but I always thought you were fair, honorable and stood for the rule of law and the Constitution above everything else.

I am very disappointed in the conduct of many of the senators in the impeachment trial in not wanting to hear from witnesses and in wanting to cover up everything the president has done.

The president's defense team is a disgrace to everything the country has stood for by saying the president can do anything and everything he wants without Congress overseeing his or her conduct.

I would think with you retiring you would like to have a legacy such as John McCain or Howard Baker to uphold the rule of law, protect our republic and to have free and fair elections. What about your grandkids? Will you be able to say to them 10 or 15 years from now that you did everything you could to protect free and fair elections? Or would you rather give the excuse I did not want to delay the hearings, upset my political party or be called out by Trump on Twitter?

My guess is that senators who vote to cover up lies and distort the truth will not be favored very kindly in the history books, especially if we lose a lot or many of the freedoms we now have.
