NASHVILLE - State House Majority Leader Glen Casada has named Rep. Marc Gravitt, R-East Ridge, to head the House Republican Caucus Bill Review Committee for the 110th General Assembly.

"Marc's leadership skills will be utilized as chairman of bill review to analyze legislation and prepare for critical votes that come to the House floor," Casada said today in a news release.

Gravitt, owner of Gravitt Auction and Appraisals, said he was honored to be selected and noted "making our time on the House floor more productive to cast informed votes will be my focus."

The panel meets prior to House sessions to present bills to the 74-member GOP Caucus to permit discussion with sponsors, answer questions, listen to objections and discuss amendments.

Republicans have a super majority in the 99-member chamber.

As chairman, Gravitt sets the meeting agenda and facilitate discussions among members.

Casada said Gravitt's role as chairman "will be invaluable in forming public policy that Tennesseans deserve and expect."
