Lindsey remains part of Mocs staff

University of Tennessee at Chattanooga defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey will not be heading to Vanderbilt, Mocs head coach Russ Huesman said Thursday. Lindsey, who was hired by Huesman earlier this month, interviewed with the Commodores this week for an opening on their staff.

"They went with another candidate," Huesman said. "Sometimes you feel bad when things don't work out, but we're glad to have him. I'm glad he's staying with us."

Huesman has just one vacancy left on his staff. He has interviewed two candidates this week for the position of running backs coach: Vanderbilt offensive graduate assistant Norval McKenzie and Tennessee offensive administrative intern Jamaal Fobbs.

McKenzie played running back at Vanderbilt (2001-04), and Fobbs played at Oklahoma State (1997-2000). Huesman said last week, following Jason McManus' resignation, that he was looking for a running backs coach who played the position at the collegiate level.

Huesman said he expects to have the position filled soon.
