Former Baylor University quarterback Jarrett Stidham announced via social media Saturday night that he was transferring to Auburn.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Stidham is rated as the nation's No. 1 junior college prospect according to the 247Sports.com composite rankings. He left Baylor in July and has been attending McLennan Community College in Stephenville, Texas, but he did not play football, so he will head to Auburn with three seasons of eligibility remaining.

"These last six months have been crazy, and the craziness is finally over," Stidham posted on Twitter. "Time to start my next chapter at Auburn University. War Eagle!"

Stidham started three games for Baylor in 2015 but had his season cut short by a broken ankle bone in the 10th game against Oklahoma State. He played in all 10 contests, completing 75 of 109 passes (68.8 percent) for 1,265 yards with 12 touchdowns and two interceptions.

Auburn won the 2010 national championship with a quarterback (Cam Newton) who transferred from junior college and played for the national title in 2013 with another one (Nick Marshall) who did.

The Tigers have played this season with Sean White, Jeremy Johnson and John Franklin III at quarterback, and White was the Southeastern Conference's most accurate passer for much of the season for an 8-4 team that is headed to the Sugar Bowl. White, a redshirt sophomore, suffered a shoulder injury at Ole Miss in late October that limited his playing time the last month of the regular season.

Johnson is a senior and Franklin a junior who transferred from East Mississippi Community College after beginning his career at Florida State. Franklin is on track to graduate next summer and could play his final season elsewhere as a graduate transfer.
