Around the Region: UTC men's golf team tied for eighth in Autotrader Collegiate tourney

Highlighted by a double eagle from Etienne Brault, the UTC men's golf team is tied for eighth after Monday's two rounds in the 18-team Autotrader Collegiate tournament at Duluth, Ga. The Mocs go into the final round at 591 with UNC Greensboro and Augusta, 10 shots behind second-place host Georgia State. Georgia Southern is 18 under par at 558. Brault sank his second shot on No. 15 from 238 yards with a 2 iron and wound up with a first-round 70, and teammate Phillip Hickam matched him in a tie for 12th at 145 with a second-round 69. Luke Long shot 72-77 and Will Porter had two 76s.

Volleyball

* Covenant College senior setter Schuyler Moore was the USA South volleyball player of the week after totaling 115 assists, 39 digs and 24 kills in three league wins. She has the school record of 3,456 career assists.

Soccer

* Dalton State had the Southern States Athletic Conference men's soccer offensive player of the week, Santiago Moore, and the defensive honoree, Jordan Man. Although he's a defender, Man scored three goals in the Roadrunners' two wins, including one in overtime, and Moore also had a game-winner plus another goal and two assists.

* Bryan's Ana Ramirez was the Appalachian Athletic Conference women's soccer offensive player of the week for her three goals and an assist in two wins.
